There’s nothing like the spicy flavors and pungent aromas of Indian cuisine to transport you to another world. This Friday and Saturday, come into Potash Markets to meet Maya Kaimal, an award-winning cookbook author, and taste her exquisite line of Indian sauces.
Maya’s original line of sauces line includes flavors such as tikka masala, coconut curry, vindaloo, tamarind curry and classic korma, which you can use to mix with your favorite ingredients to create an authentic Indian meal at home.
A daughter of an Indian chemist who emigrated to the United States in the 1950s, Maya became fascinated with Indian food when she would visit her aunt back in India and enjoy the heady aromas of fresh curry leaves, mustard seeds and dried chilies cooking in the kitchen.
As an adult, Maya often made home-cooked Indian food for her friends, who raved about how much better it tasted than Indian food in restaurants. That inspired her to write her first cookbook, “Curried Flavors,” which won the Julia Child Cookbook Award, and come out with her line of Indian-flavored sauces.
Come into the Potash Market on Clark Street on Friday, April 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., or the Potash Market on State Street on Saturday, April 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to meet Maya and taste one of her signature refrigerated and shelf-stable sauces. It’s a great way to spice up your regular dinner routine!
